Betsy began drawing when she was a child. Growing up, she would paint giant animal murals or sketch ruined barns along the roads of upstate New York. Her interest in art led her to degrees in Art History from Vassar College and U.C. Berkeley. She also studied Studio Art throughout her life, specializing in Illustration at Pratt Institute.
Betsy's work is wide ranging. She draws from both her imagination and life. She loves creating humorous characters, yet is equally at home with more sober subjects like her series of French rooms
